The Discovery Channel, which has put together yet another offering in their JFK series, is trying to grab the brass ring -- this time by claiming that they have recreated the WC solution that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. All of this in a 1-hour tv show, no less.
I have had a personal experience with this show, being retained to assist in its development when it was just a 'test' they were doing; before it became an 'investigation' 'commissioned' by the DC. The language of their press release and news blurbs at their site is a throwback to the days of old when the Warren Commission Report first came out.
A team of experts decided in private what to tell the public to think about the assassination. They misused information, and worst of all, began and ended with the proposition that LHO acted alone. This circular reasoning, along with all the other fumbles, quickly caught the attention of astute readers, and the alternative -- conspiracy theory-- network was born.
But 2008 is not 1964. Now we have the internet, and youtube. The media ought to have second thoughts about believing it has the power to tell the public what to think. The DC people, however, with their own publicity firm, Discovery Communications, seem to think otherwise. They have involved NBC, showing a preview of the show on its nightly news show; they also posted news articles at the MSNBC website. These have been spawned out to quasi-news outlets as well. Apparently, this is their attempt to trickle down to the individual level.
But the implied threats, the promises, and yes, I can say from personal experience with the production company that developed this show, Creative Differences, in LA, they are comfortable not only with unprofessional but unethical behavior. I am still waiting for half of the retainer they offered me (I did not ask for it) as well as for a dvd of the interview I gave which they decided not to use. It seems they have more important things to do -- to badger a nation into letting them tell them what to think.
Why am I not surprised that a renown conspiracy theorist such as yourself NEEDS to belittle those involved with the DC JFK special. Over 45 years, I for one have never doubted the kill shot at ZAP 313 originated from the TSBD. Science and common sense, despite the maniacal ramblings of the CT community will prevail. It's people such as yourselves Ms. McElwain; narcissists whom simply cannot admit there is absolutely NO HARD evidence in this case for conspiracy. None. Zero. Zilch. We in the company applaud your efforts.
Excellent analysis.
The excellent research of scholars such as Prof. David R. Wrone, Prof. Gerald W. McKnight, Prof. Michael L. Kurtz, attorney James Lesar, Howard Roffman, Sylvia Meagher and the dean of all the many critics, Harold Weisberg has shown that the official theory is not true and that shots were fired at JFK from more than one location. Since the crime was never properly investigated we may never know who the real killers were. One person can be ruled out as having no motive, no means and no opportunity: Lee Harvey Oswald.
For one to understand this assassination for its simplicity, one must thoroughly understand Lee Oswald. Unfortunately, the CT community spends its time on ballistic anomalies, disputes in witness testimony et al at the expense of understanding who Oswald was and what he stood for. For Brian to make the outlandish statement "that shots were fired at JFK from more than one location" in the absence of any ballistic evidence whatsoever is typical of the CT community. Common sense and critical thought is thrown out the window and replaced by speculation, innuendo and outright lies.
Question for Ms. Brown. Since you dispute the findings of the DC program "inside the target car", have you at any point requested your name be removed from the credits for this program and have you refunded any monies you've made from this program being shown?
